Word of wisdom to a
new; Chief Petty Officer.
You now have the honor of calling yourself a Chief Petty Officer, the backbone of the Coast Guard. The pronoun WE applies to you & your crew. The pronoun I applies only to you as being responsible for WE. Endeavor to know each, and every member of your crew, lead with respect & guidance, and strive to be respected, rather than feared, or liked. Train your crew well. Remember, a well taken care of crew will make you, and the Coast Guard proud. Remember
our duties are a 24/7 way of life, and every crewmember counts. Listen to the voice of experience. Well
